Description

Club 119 Study JournalS – YouR companion for digging deep into God’s Word!

🔍 What sets the Gospel of John Bible Study Journal apart?

  • Inductive Bible Study Guidance: Dig into the treasures of the Gospel of John through the power of inductive study. The observation, interpretation, and application prompts will help you explore the text, dig into context, find application.
  • Ample Note-Taking Space: Everyone takes notes differently so this journal isn’t excessive with the prompts and you’ll find plenty of room to capture your insights, reflections, and discoveries. Your journaling journey deserves space that can both capture your style & preferences as well as keep you focused and on task!
  • Embrace Messy Notes: Ditch the Instagram-worthy notes that are perfectly scripted & color-coordinated and embrace the messy notes! If you struggle with perfectionism and the desire to make sure your notes are picture perfect, allow me to release you from that expectation and free you to write your notes in the way that makes sense to you. Be messy, use your favorite writing tools, cross things out, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. This is a workbook for your personal use, not an art piece to impress people with. Focus more on getting your thoughts on paper as you explore the text rather than making sure everything on the page looks good. (P.S. if you are naturally a neat note-taker, more power to you and keep up the good work!).
  • No-Fluff Design: I don’t want to mess with your personal style. Maybe you like to doodle or use your carefully chosen color code. Maybe you like stickers and and fun sticky notes. Or maybe minimal is your jam and you don’t like a lot of flash. Either way, I didn’t add a bunch of repetitive designs to clash with your personal note-taking preferences. Fill the pages your way, Friend!
  • Practical Application: The Gospel of John isn’t just a story about a good guy who did some pretty cool things; it’s the story of the Son of God. John wrote his gospel “so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” John 20:31 ESV. The lessons in this journal are designed to lead you to practical & biblically-sound application so you can walk in the truth you have learned!

🎉 Imagine the Journey:

  1. Engage: Learn to engage your curiosity by learning to ask questions as you study.
  2. Explore: Hone your study skills by practicing careful observation, interpretation, application. Read commentaries, check dictionaries, handbooks, and other reference works, and explore the good work others have given use as you journey through John and capture all your findings in the pages of this journal.
  3. Experience: Embrace the transformative power of the Gospel’s message as you connect it to your personal journey.
  4. Embed: Allow the story of Jesus to change your life and lead you to live well and stay focused on the glory of God and the love of others.

🌟 Whether you’re new to Bible study or a seasoned explorer of the Word, the Gospel of John Bible Study Journal will take your Bible study to the next level. It’s not just another journal; it’s your trusted companion on your journey towards knowing Jesus better.

Best way to kick start the last quarter of the yea Best way to kick start the last quarter of the year! To know me is to know that Point of Grace music is so incredibly foundational to the soundtrack of my life. Everyone of their records reminds me of a season of my life and whenever I feel off track I can always get back to what’s most important with songs that have grounded me since childhood. I’m so glad I got to hear them live tonight! I’ve been feeling anxious and overwhelmed the past several weeks and now I’m feeling inspired again and more at peace 😎

We can all agree that the OT genealogies are great We can all agree that the OT genealogies are great reading matter for insomnia.

Then there are the purity laws.
And the land assignments.
And the censuses.
You get it.

It’s not a sin to say that parts of the Bible are boring, confusing, or hard to follow & understand. It just means you have Bible-reading muscles to stretch out and exercise. There are things you have to get used to and it can take time. But in the meantime, here’s one thing to keep in mind when in a less than exciting or inspiring passage of scripture -

God cares about details. He’s not careless or haphazard. He’s interested in establishing track records because He knows the only way to make His case of love & justice is to offer evidence of His faithfulness in spite of the unfaithfulness of humanity. Nothing is an accident and even when humans don’t listen and jack stuff up, He never loses control over the situation.

It’s okay if it’s boring for awhile. Stick with it until you see its beauty. It’s worth the effort!

“What does this have to do with me?” “How d “What does this have to do with me?”

“How does this speak into what I’m going through today?”

“How does change my life?”

These aren’t bad questions, in fact, they’re good questions and we should ask them. We just shouldn’t ask them FIRST. If we’re primarily concerned with what the Bible has to do with US, we’re probably going to pass up the parts that legit will tell us nothing about life as modern humans (genealogies and law codes anyone?). Instead, we have to change our presuppositions -

1. The Bible isn’t about me. The Bible is about God and His redemptive work in the world.
2. I need to let God’s story tell me about about Himself
3. Knowing who God is, what His intentions are for humans & how He operates in the world makes up the framework I need to understand myself, my value, & my purpose on this planet.

Don’t get me wrong. the Bible will tell you a whole lot about yourself. But first let it tell you about God. Start looking for glimpses of Jesus & the Gospel. In some places He may be harder to spot than others but He’s there, His plan is there, His love is there. Always ❤️

Reading the Bible early morning is a fantastic asp Reading the Bible early morning is a fantastic aspiration and I can’t wait to get there buuuuuuut it’s not required. If you wait for perfect, you’ll be waiting for the rest of your life. Just do it. Make the time and do it. Life is constantly changing and you’ll always have to make adjustments, navigate interruptions, and balance priorities. If this matters to you, you’ll make it happen. ❤️

There’s a lot in the Bible that troubles our mod There’s a lot in the Bible that troubles our modern sensibilities, world views, & feelings, etc.. But you would be foolish to judge an entire movie after only seeing one scene, a show after a plot twist in S3 E5, or a novel by one conversation toward the end of the book. We know not to do it with anything else but the Bible is judged by isolated verses & stories. It doesn’t work like that. While the Bible is holy, it works just like any other story - it should be read in its entirety.

• Yes it’s hard
• Yes, it takes discipline
• Yes there may be a learning curve
• Yes there are some parts that are really boring at first

But it’s good and glorious and God’s gift to humanity. If you care at all about Jesus, take the time to read His story. Take the time to figure it out, to ask questions, to be frustrated, to not be good at it. All of those things are okay. God can handle it all - I promise. Just show up. He’ll meet you there.
