Hey girlie.

One day you’re going to be 30 and trying to figure your life out. Not because it’s bad and in need of an overhaul but because over the years you will have collected a lot of things - experiences, feelings, opinions, beliefs, hurts, joys, failures, victories, embarrassments, thrills, loves, and hates. Every so often you’re going to have to figure out what you want to do with all that stuff and what kind of person you want to be because of or in spite of it all. It’s not easy. But here’s what I want you to do for me -

Don’t ever stop dreaming & playing & singing & imagining & asking questions & trying new things. Don’t let the fear of failure box you in. Don’t play the comparison game or feel less than because you don’t look/behave/talk like some other girl. She has her life to live and you have yours. So live it, sweetheart, so that when you’re grown up, you’ll have all those girlhood dreams and ambitions to remind you who you are at the core before you started collecting all that other stuff. You’ll need those reminders and memories, I promise you. Be you, always. ❤️

And God? Don’t worry, He’s just as awesome as you’ve been told. Better even. He’s the best thing about adulthood.

Back in TNs for the summer and man does it feel awesome!!

I’ve been working on the same huge project since the beginning of the year and now that I’m done with it (for the most part) I’m itching to switch thing up in my routines, spaces, wardrobe, and planner set up. Slowly working on those other things but a planner switcharoo isn’t complicated so here we are!

I went back to my mainstay @myprimaplanner standard TN that I’ve had for years and then added this beautiful floral passport that I’ve had for awhile but haven’t used much. The chunky chunk feels so gooooooooooood in my hands (if you know, you know).

When you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed and menta

When you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed and mentally over-worked, you gotta keep your hands busy or you’re liable to drown your stress in a Netflix binge or a tub of something frozen and creamy...Okay so I did watch a couple of shows and I did eat some ice cream. BUT I also re organized my bookshelves, did some laundry, swept some floors, cleaned the storm door, watered the garden, and ran a couple errands. NOT what I was supposed to do today buuuuuuuuuuutt sometimes all you can do is pivot.

Can’t decide categorically how I feel about color-coordinated bookshelves. I love looking at them but will I enjoy using them? Jury is still out but I definitely think they’re pretty and now I’m a little less overwhelmed.

What a way to end the day! It came and went pretty

What a way to end the day! It came and went pretty quickly. First marble sized and then this size. We were under a tornado watch too. Super thankful that we sustained no damage (that we can tell). God is so gracious.

It’s been awhile since a storm made me this nervous. Sitting on the floor of the laundry room with my brother, watching the radar on our phones, I was chagrined to remember that only a few hours earlier I was live on YouTube writing out verses from the 91st Psalm. My mom taught us these verses as children and they came to mind as we waited for the storm to pass.

“I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” Psalm 91:2 KJV

Do I actually believe that? For us, this was nothing compared to what so many deal with or have dealt with. God won’t always keep us the effects of a storm. Is my faith strong enough to trust Him even when chaos, trouble and heartache threaten my peace & comfort?

May I ever be reminded that my faith must always be bigger than my fear because my God is bigger and more powerful than anything that will come my way.

At the beginning of April, my husband and I had to quarantine & isolate because we both tested positive for Covid 😝😝(We’re doing great now 👍🏽 God was so incredibly gracious to us both 🙌🏽)

One thing I had to come to terms with since we couldn’t do normal stuff during isolation was that I can’t do everything but I still have to do my best. No matter what circumstances or situations we find ourselves in, we have to do our best with what we have, wherever we are.
.
How has April been for you? Did it get off to a rocky start too? If so, it’s okay. Don’t try to do it all. Just do your best! Stay grateful. Trust in God’s timing—He’s got you!

I have a confession to make: I haven’t been pray

I have a confession to make: I haven’t been praying much lately.

I mean, like, I’ve prayed, but I’ve haven’t been spending the kind of time in prayer that I 1). know I should and 2). desperately need. And in seasons like this (which are embarrassingly often) I totally see the impact it makes in my life. It’s detrimental to say the least. And I have the nerve to wonder why I sometimes can’t get a grip 🙄🤦🏾‍♀️

I am, of course, reticent to put this into words but the honest to goodness truth is that I have a serious pride issue. I go about my life thinking that I’ve got it figured out or at least that I’m figuring it out even though I know that most days I’m barely treading water. I wouldn’t label it pride but isn’t that what keeps us off our knees? Isn’t that what keeps us from bringing our hearts before the Father? Isn’t that what keeps us from allowing Him to examine all the spaces we’d rather keep under wraps? What else could it be?

So as I’m planning and refreshing my 2021 goals for the second quarter, I’m making prayer a top tier priority. Because it really doesn’t matter how well I use my planning system or set up my goals or even how often I read my Bible or keep a journal. If I am not intentionally staying connected to God through prayer, all my efforts to “do all the things” don’t matter. Prayer is the linchpin. Prayer is the way that I humble myself and place God at the center of my life. Prayer is the way that I check my pride and remind myself that I am not in control. Prayer is the way that I set myself up to be selfless and generous rather than self-centered and self-serving.
